Regent Business School is one of the few business schools in South Africa with an established association with a large overseas university. From inception, this link was established with the University of Luton in the United Kingdom to offer a range of business and management programmes by distance and supported learning to Southern African students.

In the quest to address the empowerment of members of local communities, REGENT BUSINESS SCHOOL in partnership with LG SETA and AFRISET recently completed training to 324 unemployed individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The purpose of the training was to provide the learners with an outstanding educational experience and an opportunity to grow and develop, with a view to giving back to their communities.

Learners were divided into 4 groups and assigned to one of the four programmes which were BASIC ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE, LEADERSHIP, PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION, with leadership being the underlying theme in all the modules.

These programmes were designed by the academic staff at Regent Business School to provide learners with a holistic view of the subject matter and skills to apply this knowledge in their lives.

Professor Marvin KambuwaChanges are a foot at Regent Business School (RBS) in Durban as its new Principal, Professor Marvin Kambuwa, assumes his position and works with the RBS team to implement its plans to guide the School into a new phase in its continued quest for excellence.


Professor Kambuwa assumed his position as principal on 1st April 2010. He brings to the School over 30 years’ experience as a senior manager in both the public and private sectors, including service as a diplomat (Ottawa and London). From 1998 – 2008 he was Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he served as Director of the Graduate School of Business (University of Durban-Westville 1998-2004) and Director of the Management Faculty’s Project Management and Training Unit (UKZN 2005-2008). Professor Kambuwa successfully coordinated the merger of the business schools of the former UDW and Natal University and spearheaded the accreditation of the UKZN’s MBA by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) in 2004. Since 2003 he has assisted the CHE in evaluating higher education programmes for accreditation. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Advisory Council of CTI Educational Group and Chairperson of the Academic Board of Midrand Graduate Institute.
